The Home Run Mission
A premier annual running and walking event bringing together people of all levels to
help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and their families through the Ray
Tanner Foundation, while promoting the benefits of healthy and active lifestyles.
2012 Events
12K Run features a scenic 7.5 mile course starting and finishing at the new
Carolina Stadium located at 431 Williams Street, Columbia, SC 29208.
- Course certification by USATF
- Palmetto Grand Prix Race - double points
- Columbia Running Club Tour de Columbia
- For runners with faster than 15 min/mile pace - course closes at 9:30
5K Run and Walk was especially for those out to enjoy a day of fun and fitness.
This 3.1 mile course starts at the entrance to Carolina Stadium and returns for your
finish at Home Plate. Scenic, nearly all flat and fun.
New 1 Mile Kids Run especially for those 14 and under.
Kids Fun Run sponsored by Optimist Club of St. Andrews is inside Carolina
Stadium Field at 9:15 am. All kids receive a #1 Kids Run for Fun race bib, finisher's
medal and refreshments. Of course Coach Tanner and USC mascot Cocky will be
there to cheer everyone on.

The Ray Tanner Home Run is presented as a community service by the all volunteer Strictly Running Long Distance Team. The purpose of our group is to foster a fun and supportive environment for runners of all abilities to prepare for your next big race of simply enjoy a weekly easy run with friends. The group and runs are free and totally run by volunteers. Through the support of the Strictly Running store, Columbia Running Club and the Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation we have grown from a handful of members in 2005 to over 400 today.
